Here comes the sun, little Darlin'
Ahhhhh. There really is nothing like spring in the Umpqua Valley, is there? The sun’s out in our beautiful valley and while it could just be an Oregon bi-polar-weather-mood swing, we should all still be preparing our car for spring. I was a Girl Scout once and still uphold their slogan "always be prepared". I don’t want to be caught off guard when the mood strikes for a leisurely spring drive out in the country and I don’t want you to be either.
If you slapped on a set of winter tires this year, it’s time to switch them back out. Whether you put on winter tires or not, it’s still a good idea to have your tires looked at, possibly replaced and definitely rotated.
ROLLIN' WITH THE HOMIES
Roll down your windows (it’s nice enough out there now) and listen to your breaks. If you hear any squeaking or screeching you might be in need of some new brakes. If you don't have an ear for car noises, we can check them for you in our service department.
YOU'VE GOT WHOZITS AND WHATZITS GALORE
Check your hoses and belts. This one isn’t really seasonal but using the seasons as a reminder to keep up on checkups is a good idea.
YOU WANT THINGAMABOBS? YOU'VE GOT ALMOST TWENTY!
But who cares? No big deal. You want more? Well, you’ve got a LOT of fluids in that vehicle that need to be kept at the appropriate levels. Let’s make sure you aren’t missing any.
-transmission fluid (you read that past blog, right?)
-transfer case lubricants
-power steering fluid
-oil (of course)
BLADE RUNNER. WIPER BLADE RUNNER. YUP.
While you are checking your wiper blade fluid, you might as well take a gander at the blades and make sure they don’t need replacing. You could also have that Crystal Fusion done that I mentioned in the “Night Rider” blog.
CHECKONETWO. CHECK.... ONE... TWO.
Meaning your battery. Get it tested. It's not difficult. Might as well, right? We can do it for you.
SPF 30… ALREADY?
As The Beatles sang, here comes the sun and, just as you would protect your skin from damaging sun rays, you should do the same for any vinyl, leather or rubber surface inside your car. Normally, your dashboard, steering wheel and some seats are made of vinyl or leather and rubber is usually used for molding, bumpers, trim, weather seals/stripping, etc. Your car’s surfaces aren’t going to get cancer but they will start to crack and age just like our skin. We recommend Meguiars Supreme Shine High Performance Protectant which we sell in our parts department. It’s the bomb.
FRESH AS A DAISY
The sun is making most of us start feeling the spring cleaning itch. Let’s begin our cleaning spree with the car. Change out winter floor mats, vacuum out the interior, clean the windows inside and out, clean and wax the outside and get yourself an air freshener that embodies spring! We can also do all of this for you. Just drop off your car and our detailing department will handle the rest.
Now that your car is up to par, let’s talk about some amazing road trips right here in the Umpqua Valley… On my next blog post.
